I always thought of doing alterations as my "side hustle" for a little extra spending money, I never believed that I could do what I love full time and make a sustainable career out of it. Boy was I wrong!
When I started this journey back in 2011 I had a rinky dink home sewing machine and was using my brothers old bedroom as my "studio", and I would travel to clients homes to do the fittings and gown drop offs. Fast forward to 2024 and I am now in the studio space of my dreams working with the best brides to help bring their bridal visions to life for one of the biggest days of their lives.
Ryan and I got married December 5, 2015 and our lives just got busier from the point forward. We have two amazing little boys, Duncan (7) and Brady (4) who are very active at home and in sports. Whether it's playing baseball, soccer, roller hockey or ice hockey, we are always there to support their passions for sports. We also enjoy weekends at home cuddling on the couch or playing outside. I have spent the last several years making our backyard a place for fun and relaxation. Even with our busy schedules, we navigate life's ups and downs and we lean on each other for support finding strength in the simple joys of every moments.
I always get asked, "How did you learn how to do this? You're so young!" Truth be told, I never thought that this was what I was going to do as a career, I don't think any one does. Sewing isn't really taught in schools anymore, it's not a "necessary skill" to have in this day and age of fast fashion. My journey began during my college years, where my passion for sewing ignited within the walls of the Kent State University theater department. From altering garments to crafting pieces from scratch for stage productions, I found myself immersed in the world of creativity and craftsmanship.
After college, my pursuit to a fulfilling career led me to David’s Bridal, where I discovered my love for the wedding industry. As an alterations specialist, I honed my skills and learned the art of perfecting a bridal gown. Despite various job changes over the years, alterations remained a constant in my life. I was working out of the spare bedroom of my parents house traveling to clients homes to do the fittings all while working a full time job.
My pivotal role as the Operations Manager at high end bridal salon in Manhattan was a transformative experience for me. Working closely with designers, assisting brides find their dream gowns, and managing the overall operations of the store and overseeing the alterations department, I absorbed invaluable insights that shaped me both personally and professionally. Amidst these career milestones, I embarked of my own journey to marriage and motherhood, further solidifying my commitment to creating a fulfilling career path closer to home.
Not only do I get to work with amazing women to bring their visions to life but I also get a chance to spend more time with my family. Having two young kids its so important to me to be able to attend all of their extra curricular activities.

- ASHLEY
Kirstyn is a creative genius and such a great person to be around during those very stressful weeks leading up to your wedding. If you have Kirstyn handle your alterations just know you are in wonderful hands. I had her add sleeves, shorten the hem, add the bustle and my very favorite part is my custom veil. I ordered a cheap veil from amazon ($30) and she used the floral appliques from my dress to create a custom veil that would match my dress beautifully. She NAILED it. She made my veil look like it was hundreds of dollars. She is fairly priced and so so so easy to work with. Do not hesitate to use Kirstyn, you will not regret it."
My extensive experience in the theater department not only honed my sewing skills but also instilled a unique understanding of garment construction and attention to detail that sets me apart.
With a deep-rooted passion for the wedding industry, I bring years of experience working in prominent bridal boutiques, gaining insights into the specific needs and desires of brides.
I prioritize building meaningful connections with my clients, offering a personalized and collaborative experience tailored to each bride's individual style and preferences.
